South Elementary School is one of two elementary schools in Wabash Community Unit School District #348. Approximately 370 students attend South, which is a K-2 school. The curriculum includes the core areas plus weekly instruction in character education, computers, library as well as physical education and music.

Our reading is also literature based and our math uses lots of "Math Their Way" hands-on methods. We do not have an art teacher, so each teacher does art on her own. We are using a computer reading program called Accelerated Reader which the kids love. They read a book, then take a short computer test on the book. Each book has a point rating and the student earns points for passing the test.
